"Yes, the new one in the shiny box that is barely used?"
"That's the one. Well....it was stolen."
Against my better judgement, I got very very angry.
WHO STEALS!!!?????
Brody's new phone was stolen at work by a customer. We did everything we could. We tried tracing him by his credit card info (turns out restaurants can't do that...which I guess is a good thing. Not in this case), we reviewed the security tapes and still couldn't identify this guy who walked out with the phone.
After some remotely locking and wiping the phone, sending threatening texts, sending pleading texts, and even executing a Craigslist Sting Operation (which turned out to be legit), we gave up. We thought we had found the thief when a matching description popped up on Craigslist the next morning. Brody offered to buy it, met with the seller just so he could check the serial number; the guy was clean.
Brody and I definitely learned a lot from the situation.
You can't run from the evil in the world, and always buy the insurance.

Oh my GOSH, I can't believe that. And did you hear that someone broke into the gym and stole a bunch of stuff during one of the Spring Sing nights? My mom just came in and told me. Ugh. Theft disgusts me.

I know it is a little late, but there is a free app called Fine iPhone you can download on your phone and you can look it up online if someone steals it so you can locate it. So if you buy another one you might want to download it. It is free!
ReplyDeleteYeah we had that App on there, but when I remotely wiped the phone, the App was erased too. They had the phone turned off, so it wasn't able to locate it! They were smart criminals...
ReplyDeleteUGH! It's terrible! Remember that one time when someone broke into my house and stole over $25,000 worth of OUR stuff! It is horrible how SOME people just don't want to work for their own stuff. I hate that this happened to you!
ReplyDeleteWe prayed for justice... and now, the guys who broke into our house are rotting in the state penitentiary facing four consecutive felony sentences of 5-15 years each. So basically, not less than 20 years, but not more than 60.
They will have to answer in the end.
First- this is awful! I'm so sorry!!
ReplyDeleteHowever, I am very excited to see how your lamp turns out :)
